Japanese, Garden
A restaurant was located at the left front of the Japanese garden. There was inside and outside
seating at the restaurant with umbrellas covering the outside seating.
The entry to the garden was open from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. most days. Entry
cost US $4.00 per adult, and US $3.00 for seniors (65+), students and military.
Children 6 years of age and younger could enter for free.
A lovely curved path lead through the garden. The was the scene visible from the entry gate.
A case displaying souvenirs for sale was just opposite the bench where the entry
fee was paid. The actual gift shop was inside with the restaurant.
The gate that would shut to close the entry was made of lacquered bamboo.
It was in excellent repair.
Water dripped from the end of the piece of bamboo entering from the left.
Those drops slowly filled the lower piece on the pivot. After a while,
the lower piece would fill, tilt and empty itself.
A gardener knelt on the edge of a curved path that afternoon. He wore kneepads and two hats for
protection.
A small art museum was found midway through the garden. It featured some classic Japanese art,
also a significant show of modern art.
Just inside the doorway to the museum were two art exhibits. The sign above the first
case read, "Transitory Elements, Miya Hannan".
A horizontal art-piece dominated the center of the room. Benches along each side
provided a restful place to meditate on the art.
Just outside the rear window of the small art museum was a large rock garden
The path continued past the museum and onward toward the koi pond and the wedding plaza.
Another meditative area was the Koi Pond. Water gently trickled over stones at the rear.
An arbor overhead provided shade on sunny days, and seating was present for the weary.
A Yamabuki Ogon
Tufts of native grass decorated one area of the garden. The texture of this grass was
striking that afternoon under an overcast sky.
Behind a gardener's shed was a small bonsai garden
The tour ended with this lovely bonsai cherry tree in full bloom.
