#Water Writes, Oakland California
The mural was found on the side of a building that faced a parking lot near
21st Street and Broadway in downtown Oakland, California.
The sign on the mural was at the extreme left and just above head height.
It read:
At the left end of the mural was the title and theme of this work of art.
The theme was the complex geo-political issues surrounding the basic human right to water.
One detail from this mural showed a woman holding a bicycle overhead to keep it out
of the splashing waves. The pose is similar to that of a soldier holding a rifle overhead
while fording a river.
The picture of an octopus trapped in plastic trash discarded into the ocean.
The crystals were a stylized form of ice used to accentuate its feeling of discomfort.
A globe filled with fish was pictured held tightly in the arms of a woman.
A white highlight indicates that the globe radiates bright light.
A tomato plant filled with full ripe tomatoes was drawn on land.
This huge mural was rich with small details such as this lone tomato plant.
