18th Street and Valencia Street Mural, As Found Art, Artist: Unknown, 18th Street and Valencia Street, San Francisco, California
A delightful and uplifting mural faced Valencia Street near 18th Street in San Francisco, California.
It was unsigned (hence the "Artist: Unknown").
It was also incomplete with a few details yet to be painted.
A closer view of the incomplete mural as photographed from the sidewalk.
This is how the mural would appear if viewed while walking past it.
The mural was mostly a portrait of flowers with corn stalks on the doorway.
A hummingbird was also drawn on this side of the mural.
A second hummingbird was drawn on the other side of the mural.
That hummingbird was in flight and appeared to hover among flowers.
Corn stalks were painted on the doorway in the center of the mural.
The step at the base of the door was painted to look like the roots of corn.
An incomplete flower was half painted and half sketched.
A yellow flower was painted to resemble a pile of tufted pillows.
Up close one could tell that this was a painted brick wall.
A closer photograph of the perched hummingbird's face revealed the technique used to paint it.
The orange flower seemed to blast out of the wall.
Its bright color was both dramatic and joyful.
Can you find the number six hidden in this flower.
